Ensouled Glass is about the language of the soul. It is telling stories of who we are, of our powers, desires, dreams, pitfalls, sorrows, and celebrations.
Making an ensouled glass is also an act of creation. It helps us to gather our soul-force, our psycho-dynamic for the life ahead. It also depicts a life past to share the gifts of that life, like the window to the right. This window was commissioned by my mother for my father. For me it speaks of their unique relationship. Making soul-pictures is about finding and showing that playful, and delicate space within. It is about rejoicing in the gift of who we are with our colours and powers, and our willingness and delight to share our natural gifts. Some ensouled glass works of art are prayers, poems, songs of the universe, expressed visually. Joseph Campbell once said: ‘it is the work of poets and artists to know what the world-image of today is, and to render it as the old seers did theirs.’ I keenly hold space for the world-image of today. In making a new work of art, I keep asking, what is arriving now? And wait. The process of receiving answers intrigues me. Perhaps we are receiving a world image of today as an old world is dying away and a new one arriving. I welcome commissions to co-create an ensouled glass with you to explore and express messages, and your unique gifts for yourself, or another, or the world. For a commission please contact me. |
